THE FILIPINO SCRIBE (TFS) is a news, commentary, and public service blog owned by Mark Pere Madrona, a writer and educator from the Philippines.
Started in March 2011, this blog has now received over 13.2 million in total page views as of JULY 2024, with most visitors coming from the Philippines. It has also received at least 10,000 visits from 23 other countries, most notably the United States, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore.
This site won the Best Text Blog award from the Philippine Legislators’ Committee for Population and Development Foundation during the 7th Annual Population and Development Media Awards last November 2011 for its series of posts tackling migration, premarital pregnancies, and sex education. Meanwhile, it is a national finalist during the 2012 Pinoy Expat/OFW Blog Awards, finishing second out of ten blogs in the online voting.
In 2014, it won 3rd place in a blog competition organized by the Affiliated Network for Social Accountability in East Asia and the Pacific (ANSA-EAP). More recently, The Filipino Scribe was one of the finalists in the 2015 Lasallian Scholarum Awards held last September for Best Online Feature Article in Youth and Education and in the first-ever Philippine Blogging Awards (#BloggysPh) held in November of the same year. In 2017, it won 2nd prize in #BreakTheFake Movement’s on-the-spot blog writing competition.

ABOUT THE LOGO:
The Filipino Scribe‘s updated logo was designed by Seiji Kameyama. It was inspired by the Philippine flag with the image of a quill pen at the center.
