Important note to all The Filipino Scribe subscribers

If you received a notification about this post through email, then you are one of the subscribers of The Filipino Scribe (TFS). Before anything else, I’d like to thank each of you for being regular readers of this blog.

As I have said time and again, this blog has gone a long way from its simple beginnings back in 2011. After three years and 552 articles, TFS has now received over 2.6 million page views. As the sole administrator of this blog, I can’t help but be proud of that achievement.

In those three years, TFS has been hosted in WordPress.com. Since WordPress takes care of everything, from backing up of blog entries to page security, I was able to focus my (limited!) time on writing.

However, this set-up is like me just renting an apartment instead of having my own house. Although WordPress.com has been a magnificent host, I felt it’s high time for TFS to be self-hosted.

This will give me more flexibility to tweak this site as I please, particularly its overall appearance. This will also allow me to earn more from this endeavor. As I noted in a post last January, I have earned very little through WordAds.

I am leaning toward tapping BlueHost as my new blog host, with WordPress.org as the new platform. If the entire migration process go smoothly, you shall see the upgraded version of TFS by April 21 at the latest.

For now, I am asking all WordPress subscribers of TFS to re-subscribe by entering your email address in the space provided in the right side of this web page (below “Subscribe to this blog!”). You can see it just above my Twitter widget.

As one song says, “This is not goodbye, this is starting over.” See you all very soon. 😉

Arrest warrant issued vs Deniece Cornejo, Cedric Lee

A branch of Taguig Metropolitan Trial Court has issued an arrest warrant against freelance model Deniece Cornejo, businessman Cedric Lee Monday afternoon.

The arrest warrant was issued in connection to the grave coercion case that actor-comedian Vhong Navarro filed against Cornejo, Lee, and six others last January.

The arrest warrant comes four days after the Department of Justice (DOJ) issued a resolution stating that there is probable cause for the filing of grave coercion and serious illegal detention against Lee and Cornejo as well as their companions Ferdinand Guerrero, Bernice Lee, Simeon Raz, Jose Paolo Calma, and Jed Fernandez.

Lee reportedly booked a Cebu Pacific flight to Dubai, United Arab Emirates over the weekend but eventually canceled it. Guerrero, for his part, was stopped by immigration officials from leaving  for Hong Kong Monday morning.

It was later explained that technically, Lee and his fellow accused can still leave the country since there’s no arrest warrant against them yet although DOJ Secretary Leila de Lima warned the group that they can be held liable for obstruction of justice.

UPDATE: According to a report by ABS-CBNPresiding Judge Bernard Pineda Bernal of the Taguig MTC has set the bail at P12,000 for Lee and his cohorts.

The serious illegal detention case meanwhile is being heard separately at Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 271. It is a non-bailable offense, but no arrest warrant has been issued so far.

Sam Concepcion is Chef’s Noodle Philippines’ latest endorser

Actor and singer Sam Concepcion will be the new endorser of Korean restaurant Chef’s Noodle Philippines. He was officially introduced to selected bloggers and members of the media during an event last April 10 at their Robinsons Magnolia branch.

“The restaurant has been known for its delectable dishes and high culinary quality. Who would not want to be associated with that,” Concepcion said, adding that it’s an honor for him to be a Chef’s Noodle endorser like television host Grace Lee as well as Miss Universe 2011 3rd runner-up Shamcey Supsup.

Concepcion added: “I especially love Chef’s Noodle because you get to enjoy a delicious meal at an affordable price. It’s a cool combination of a fast food meal and a fine dining setting,” he added.

Scoring an endorsement deal with Chef’s Noodle Philippines is the latest addition to Concepcion’s recent career successes. His songs “Mahal na Mahal” and “Dati” became big hits. He’s also one of the lead stars in the new ABS-CBN fantasy series “Mirabella.”

Concepcion will also be one of the featured acts in “Arise,” the 30th anniversary concert of music icon Gary Valenciano tonight. In an interview with Buzz ng Bayan, Valenciano said he sees Concepcion as his “heir apparent.” He also described him as “one of the most underrated singers” in the country today.

The actor-singer thanked his fans for their unwavering support since his days as a contestant in Little Big Star back in 2006. “They helped me grow all through these years. Thanks to all the Samsters!”

Speaking to The Filipino Scribe (TFS), Nancy Go, Chef’s Noodle’s operations manager, said their company decided to tap Concepcion because of his appeal to the youth. “We thought this brand needs a young face and someone who can help us with our target market,” she said.

Go likewise commended Concepcion’s versatility as an entertainer. ”No one in this generation can sing, dance, and act as well as he does!”

Chef’s Noodle offers a wide array of Korean cuisine which includes Starking Fire Sushi, Bibimbap, Japchae, Haemul Seafood Pajun (Korean pancake with shrimp and squid, spring onions, and bell pepper), Leek Shrimp Twigim, Chicken Kas (breaded chicken fillet with white creamy sauce), and Spicy Dukbokki.

BJ Albert is Nikki Gil’s new boyfriend

TV host and actress Nikki Gil finally has a new boyfriend, almost a year after her high-profile breakup with fellow entertainer Billy Crawford. In an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine last December, Gil hinted that the former international celebrity cheated on her.

A reliable source confirmed to The Filipino Scribe (TFS) that the new man in the singer’s life is indeed young entrepreneur BJ Albert. The source, who is identified with the Alberts, requested that her identity be withheld because she is not authorized to speak on the subject.

As indicated in his Facebook page, Albert is a psychology graduate from the Ateneo de Manila University (batch 2007). He finished high school from De La Salle Zobel in 2003.

The two had been the subject of speculations since Gil admitted last February that she is dating again. At that time, Gil merely described Albert as a “29-year-old guy with an adult job.” She also pointed out that she and her suitor have a lot of mutual friends.

BJ Albert is the son of Cris and Butch Albert, the couple managing FILA Philippines. The tandem marked their 20th wedding anniversary early this year (read this article from the Philippine Daily Inquirer).

The younger Albert co-owns 2nd’s (read as “seconds”), a high-end restaurant in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Visit the restaurant’s website here.

We must re-align our pipe prior to the implementation of the said DPWH project,” pahayag ng Maynilad. Dagdag pa nito: We will need 72 hours to expose, dewater, re-align and energize our pipe because it is a seven-foot-tall primary line.”
