#WalangPasok – Class suspensions for October 20 2016 due to super typhoon ‘Lawin’

Classes in dozens of areas across Luzon are suspended for Thursday, October 20, as northern Philippines braces for the onslaught of super typhoon “Lawin” (international name: Haima).
In its severe weather bulletin released late Wednesday night, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA projected that the center of super typhoon “Lawin” is at 95 km east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (17.5°N, 122.6°E).
“Lawin” carries maximum sustained winds of up to 225 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 315 kph. It is moving west northwest at 25 kph. It is expected to make landfall over Cagayan – Isabela area by Thursday midnight. It will then cross Apayao and Ilocos Norte before eventually moving to the West Philippine Sea.
PAGASA has raised public storm warning signals in the following areas as of 11:00 PM:
Signal #5 – (No classes in all levels, including government offices)
Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Northern Abra, and Ilocos NorteSignal #4 – (No classes in all levels, including government offices)
Rest of Abra, Ilocos Sur, Mt. Province, Ifugao and Calayan Group of IslandsSignal #3 – (No classes in all levels)
