The Filipino Scribe earns nomination in first-ever BlogEx Manila Awards
The Filipino Scribe (www.FilipinoScribe.com), a news, commentary, and public service blog managed by Mark Madrona, is one of the five finalists in the first-ever BlogEx Manila Awards under the advocacy category.
Apart from TFS, other nominees in this category are the following: Arlene Tingson of www.Proverbs31Woman.org, Jade Angelo Gascon of www.FuturePastor.com, Racquel Sarah Castro of www.RacquelSarah.wordpress.com, and veteran investigative journalist Raissa Robles (www.RaissaRobles.com).
According to the organizers of BlogEx Manila, these will be the basis in determining the winners for each category: Votes – 50%, Influence – 20%, Relevance – 20%, and Blog Design – 10%. Readers of TFS are all encouraged to support the website by casting their votes through http://blogexmanila.com/advocacy/. They only need to register their name and email address to vote.
Other categories include 1) Arts and Culture, 2) Information Technology, 3) Food and Drinks, 4) Travel, 5) Fashion and Beauty, 6) Lifestyle, and 7) Sports, Health, and Fitness. The winners will be announced during the Awards Night to be held at the SMX Convention Center in SM Aura this September 24.
TFS has already won several awards and recognitions since it first went online five years ago, most notably the Best Blog Award during the 7th Population and Development Media Awards in 2011. In 2014, it won 3rd place in a blog competition organized by the Affiliated Network for Social Accountability in East Asia and the Pacific (ANSA-EAP).
Last 2015, it was one of the finalists in the 2015 Lasallian Scholarum Awards for Best Online Feature Article in Youth and Education and in the first-ever Philippine Blogging Awards (#BloggysPh) held in November.
