#WalangPasok – Class suspensions for August 16 2016
(Updated, 12:00 AM)
In its 5:00 PM update for August 15, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned of possible flash floods and landslides as the Ilocos region and the provinces of Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan continue to experience heavy rains due to southwest monsoon or habagat.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, rest of Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), rest of Central Luzon, and the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Mindoro can experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms tomorrow.
The southwest monsoon is being intensified by a low pressure area (LPA) estimated to be at 890 km East of Baler, Aurora (14.8N, 129.8E) as of late Monday afternoon.
Because of that, several local government units (LGUs) have already announced the suspension of classes in their respective constituencies for Tuesday, August 16.
More LGUs are expected to announce class suspensions in the coming hours as PAGASA releases its 11:00 PM weather bulletin.
