Ian Jasper Calalang of UP Diliman remains missing

A week after he was first reported missing, University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman student Ian Jasper Calalang remains nowhere to be found. Calalang is currently a first year industrial engineering student there.

A resident of Cainta, Rizal, Calalang was supposed to enroll for his second semester at the university last January 12. In fact, he was still able to text his parents around 8:22 AM of the said day to say that he is already in UP Diliman. That was the last time he communicated to anyone in his family.

In relation to the incident, the UP Diliman administration announced that it has mobilized all its security units to look for Calalang: the UP Police, Special Services Brigade (SSB), and agency-hired security guards. It also added that they have coordinated with Barangay UP Diliman and the Quezon City Police Department to try to locate the student, but to no avail so far.

“We have helped the parents to review CCTV footage from the College of Engineering and the College of Arts and Letters, where main enrollment activities are, but again have not been able to find any leads,” the university said.

Ian Jasper Calalang stands at 5’4” and weighs about 60 kilos or roughly 130 pounds. On the day he was last seen, he was wearing a white shirt, black denim pants, and white shoes. The description closely matches what he is wearing on the photo above, though it was taken several weeks ago.
