#WalangPasok – Class suspensions for September 19 2024
(UPDATED, 12:25 AM)
As of 11:00 PM, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA has raised the yellow rainfall warning over Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, and Metro Manila due to enhanced southwest monsoon despite the exit from the Philippine area of responsibility of tropical depression “Gener” and tropical storm “Helen” (international name: Pulasan).
The state weather bureau also warned that Nueva Ecija, Rizal, Batangas, Laguna, Quezon, and Tarlac can experience light to moderate with occasional heavy rains.
In line with this, several local government units have announced the suspension of face-to-face classes in their respective constituencies for September 19, Thursday.
Based on Department of Education order #37-2022 signed by Vice President and then-Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio, classes up to senior high school are automatically suspended in areas where a red or orange rainfall warning has been raised.
Local government executives, meanwhile, have the discretion to suspend classes even if no storm warning signal or rainfall warning has been raised in their respective constituencies. Additionally, the local government executives in the areas listed below have also announced the suspension of classes.
