Voter registration to run until September 30 2024 – COMELEC
With the 2025 national and local elections just over a year away, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has announced that it will be facilitating the registration of new voters from 12 February 2024 until 30 September 2024.
According to COMELEC, designated election officers across the country would be processing the registration of new voters from Mondays to Saturdays, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, except during the Lenten holidays from March 28 to 30.
To make voter registration easier, the COMELEC has also launched its “Register Anywhere Project” where it will be possible for potential new voters to submit their applications through selected barangays, malls, educational institutions, national government offices and agencies, and other establishments. A digital copy of COMELEC’s voter registration form for 2024 can be downloaded through this link. The poll body added that Filipino citizens who meet the requirements below are eligible to register and vote:
1) At least 18 years of age on Election Day, or by May 12, 2025)
2) A resident of the Philippines for at least 1 year and in the place wherein he/ she proposes to vote for at least 6 months immediately preceding the 2025 elections
3) Not otherwise disqualified by law
List of valid identification (ID) cards, according to COMELEC:
- Philippine Identification Card (PhilID)
- Employee’s identification card (ID), with the signature of the employer or authorized representative;
- Postal ID ;
- PWD Discount ID;
- Student’s ID or library card, signed by the school authority;
- Senior Citizen’s ID;
- Driver’s license;
- NBI clearance;
- Passport;
- SSS/GSIS ID;
- Integrated Bar of the Philippine (IBP) ID;
- License issued by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC);
- Certificate of Confirmation issued by the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) in case of members of ICCs or IPs; and
- Any other valid ID.
Applicants who fail to establish his or her identity by any of the aforementioned methods/documents will not be issued an application form while those with pre-accomplished application forms will not be accepted.
The poll body emphasized that Community Tax Certificates (cedula) and PNP clearance will not be honored as valid identification documents for purposes of voter registration.
