#WalangPasok – Class suspensions for December 19 2023

(UPDATED AS OF 1:00 AM, December 19)

In its 5:00 PM tropical cyclone bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA reported that the erstwhile tropical depression “Kabayan” (international name: Jelawat) has weakened into a low pressure area as it crossed the rugged terrain of Mindanao.

According to PAGASA, the low pressure area was last spotted in the vicinity of Impasug-ong, Bukidnon (8.3°N, 125.1°E) with a central pressure of 1006 hPa. It is moving northwestward at 25 kilometers per hour.

All storm warning signals have been lifted, but the remnants of “Kabayan” is still expected to bring heavy rainfall across Mindanao and even parts of Visayas until Tuesday.

Hence, it is possible that local government units in certain parts of the country will once again declare class suspensions either because of the inclement weather or the still-ongoing transport strike. The Filipino Scribe will be updating this article if and when new information becomes available.
