#WalangPasok – Class suspensions for October 2 2023

Mayor Jose Jecerell Cerrado of Tuy, Batangas has announced the suspension of face-to-face classes up to senior high school in both public and private schools for 2 October 2023, Monday due to lingering concerns over the volcanic smog from Taal Volcano. In his executive order, Cerrado mentioned that schools should adopt modular and online distance learning modalities instead.
Other local government executives around the country may also announce the suspension of classes in their respective constituencies because of inclement weather caused by tropical storm “Jenny” (international name: Koinu). The Filipino Scribe will be updating this post when new information becomes available.
Additionally, it must be kept in mind that Department of Education order #37 series of 2022 from Vice President and concurrent Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio mandates that both in-person and online classes as well as work in schools are automatically suspended in areas where a storm warning signal has been raised.
The said order also says that local government executives can suspend classes if and when the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raises a flood warning or orange and red rainfall warning in their respective constituencies.
UP TO SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL:
Tuy, Batangas – Face-to-face classes only
Meanwhile, classes up to senior high school in both public and private schools are automatically suspended in the following areas since they are under signal #1:

Babuyan Islands –
Eastern portion of Cagayan – Santa Ana, Gonzaga, Buguey, Santa Teresita, Lal-Lo, Baggao, Gattaran, Peñablanca Eastern portion of Isabela – Maconacon, Divilacan, and Palanan
