#WalangPasok – Class suspensions for 15 July 2023 due to tropical depression “Dodong”
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported late Friday night that tropical depression “Dodong” was last spotted over the coastal waters of Laoag, Ilocos Norte (18.1°N, 120.1°E).
“Dodong” is further intensifying the monsoon rains being experienced in much of Luzon, including Metro Manila. According to PAGASA, the said tropical depression carries maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (KPH), with gustiness of up to 90 KPH, and central pressure of 998 hPa. It is moving west southwestward at 20 KPH, with strong winds extending outwards up to 150 kilometers from the center.
As of 11:00 PM of July 14, PAGASA has raised signal number 1 over the following areas:
*Western portion of Cagayan (Pamplona, Santa Praxedes, Claveria, Sanchez-Mira, Allacapan, Lasam, Santo Niño, Tuao, Rizal, Piat, Abulug, Ballesteros, Enrile, Solana, Amulung, Alcala)
*Western portion of Babuyan Islands (Babuyan Is., Dalupiri Is., and Fuga Is.)
*Apayao
*Kalinga
*Abra
*Mountain Province
*Ilocos Norte
*Ilocos Sur
According to Department of Education order #37 series of 2022 signed by Vice President and concurrent Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio, both in-person and online classes as well as work in schools situated in local government units where a storm warning signal has been raised. Meanwhile, local government executives have the discretion to suspend classes in their respective areas if they deem it necessary.
