#WalangPasok – August 15 2022 declared holiday in Bulacan
Bulacan will be celebrating its 144th foundation day anniversary this coming August 15. It has been declared as a special non-working day in Bulacan by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. through Proclamation 19.
This year’s “Araw ng Bulacan” falls on a Monday, which gives Bulakenyos a three-day weekend. Read the full text of the proclamation through this link.
Citing a research done by the Center for Bulacan Studies, The Philippine Star in 2011 reported that Bulacan was established as a province in August 15, 1878 by the Spanish colonial government at that time.
Pay Rules For Araw ng Bulacan – August 15, 2022
As mentioned in the 2022_DOLE_Handbook_on_Workers_Statutory_Monetary_Benefits, the “no work, no pay” principle should be in effect during special non-working holidays like the Araw ng Bulacan.
This means that workers who are not required or permitted to work on August 15 in Bulacan are not due to receive any compensation unless there is a collective bargaining agreement or a company policy that implements that.
The handbook likewise highlighted that employees who work during special non-working days are entitled to receive an additional pay of 30% for every hour that they render service.
