#WalangPasok – Class suspensions for April 12 2022 due to ‘Agaton’
Tropical depression “Agaton” (international name “Megi”) has remained almost stationary in Eastern Visayas as of late Monday night – Philippine time. “Agaton” is the first tropical cyclone to enter the Philippine area of responsibility this 2022, and it is expected to stay in the country until Wednesday.
In its weather bulletin released 11PM of April 11, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that “Agaton” was last spotted in the vicinity of Santa Rita, Samar (11.5°N, 124.9°E).
It has maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 60 km/h, and central pressure of 1000 hPa. “Agaton” is slowly moving north northwestward. It has gustiness of up to 1500 km from the center. The Filipino Scribe will be updating this post when new information becomes available.
PAGASA has raised public storm warning signals over particular areas – mostly in Visayas. With that, the rules for automatic class suspensions are in effect in accordance with Department of Education (DepEd) Order #14 series of 2021 as reported by The Filipino Scribe last July 2021. DepEd clarified that the guidelines apply regardless of the learning delivery modality.
Local government units can also suspend classes in their respective areas as they deem appropriate.
