#WalangPasok – Work and class suspensions for September 7 2021 due to typhoon ‘Jolina’
(UPDATED, 12:15 AM)
Typhoon “Jolina” (international name “Conson”) has began wrecking havoc on parts of Eastern Visayas late Monday night (Philippine time). “Jolina” is the tenth tropical cyclone to enter the Philippine area of responsibility this 2021, and it is is threatening huge swaths of Luzon within the next three days.
In its weather bulletin released 11PM of September 6, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that “Jolina” already made its first landfall in the municipality of Hernani, Samar.
“Jolina” has maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 115 km/h, and central pressure of 994 hPa. “Jolina” is moving west northwestward at 15 km/h. It has gustiness of up to 150 km from the center. The Filipino Scribe will be updating this post when new information becomes available.
PAGASA nonetheless has raised public storm warning signals over particular areas – mostly in Eastern Visayas and Bicol Region. With that, the rules for automatic class suspensions are in effect in accordance with Department of Education (DepEd) Order #14 series of 2021 as reported by The Filipino Scribe last July. DepEd clarified that the guidelines apply regardless of the learning delivery modality.
Local government units can also suspend classes in their respective areas as they deem appropriate.
