#Traslacion2018 – Procession route and schedule of activities
Millions are expected to flock to Manila this Tuesday, January 9, as the nation celebrates the annual Feast of the Black Nazarene. The beloved icon is housed in the Quiapo Church, more formally known as the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene.
The theme for this year’s “traslacion” is “Poong Nazareno: Ang Daan, Ang Katotohanan, At Ang Buhay” (The Black Nazarene: The Way, The Truth, and the Life”) which is derived from John 14:6. Below is a tentative list of activities related to the religious occasion as provided by the Hijos Del Nazareno.

January 8, 2018 Vigil Program at the Quirino Grandstand (5:00 PM onwards)

6:00 AM Black Nazarene Procession begins
The flurry of activities will begin by January 7, when devotees take part in the procession for replicas of the Black Nazarene. The icon of the Black Nazarene will be subsequently transported from Quiapo Church to Quirino Grandstand.
During this vigil program, devotees have the chance to fall in line and kiss the statue of the Black Nazarene (referred to in Filipino as “pahalik“). By night time, several priests will take turns in addressing the crowd during the vigil, which is scheduled to last until the midnight.
Also during this time, devotees can have their confessions before members of the clergy that are in the area. By midnight, Manila Archbishop Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle will be officiating the traditional mass for the feast.
The vigil will resume after the Eucharistic Celebration. The procession or traslacion is projected to begin by 6:00 AM, or after the morning prayer, and will most likely last until the early hours of January 10.
