Airspoken launches online fundraiser to perform in the Philippines
Airspoken, a band based in Southern California, United States, is planning a series of shows for their Filipino fans later this month. However, they need help to make it happen.
The multi-racial triumvirate of Anthony Vasquez, Justin Bernardez, and Eli Mayfield endeared themselves to Filipinos when they uploaded their version of popular Filipino hits like Rivermaya’s “214,” UpDharma Down’s “Tadhana,” and Yeng Constantino’s “Ikaw.”
Because of these performances, the group has been featured in major media outlets including Sun.Star Manila as well as several popular Facebook pages. All these buzz has prompted calls for the group to perform live in the country.
“We have been featured on national TV there, as well as radio stations. Unfortunately we do not have enough money for flights, hotels, food, and transportation. The Philippines has shown us an insane amount of love and support and we would love to give back to country anyway we can,” the group said in their fundraising appeal posted on the website www.GoFundMe.com.
The group also said that any proceeds they’ll get from their Philippine shows will be going to the charity organization My Refuge Home or MRH. Based in Cebu City, MRH helps young women and children who have been victimized by human trafficking. The fundraising drive has so far raised $2,235 – just a few hundreds shy of their $3000 goal.
As a simple gesture of appreciation, the group will be giving rewards to their donors. Visit the group’s GoFundMe page through this link. Readers may also like the Facebook page of “Airspoken” here.
