#WalangPasok – September 17 2024 declared holiday in Los Baños, Laguna
Los Baños, Laguna will be celebrating its 409th foundation anniversary this September 17, Tuesday. The annual “Bañamos Festival” is a special non-working holiday in the said municipality by virtue of Republic Act 11116 which President Rodrigo Duterte signed into law in 2018. Dubbed as the “Special Science and Nature City,” Los Baños, Laguna was first established in September 17, 1615. According to the municipality’s official website, that was when the Franciscan Friars took over the government as a separate town from Bay, Laguna.
Pay Rules For Bañamos Festival holiday – September 17, 2024
The 2023_edition of Department and Labor and Employment’s (DOLE)_Handbook_on_Workers_Statutory_Monetary Benefits mandates that the “no work, no pay” principle should be in effect during special non-working holidays like this year’s celebration of Bañamos Festival in Los Baños, Laguna.
This means that workers who are not required or permitted to work in Los Baños, Laguna on September 17, 2024 are not due to receive any compensation unless there is a collective bargaining agreement or a company policy that implements that.
The handbook likewise highlighted that employees who work during special non-working days are entitled to receive an additional pay of 30% for every hour that they render service.
