#WalangPasok – Class suspensions for 28 August 2024
(UPDATED, 10:00 AM)
Certain local government executives may announce the suspension of classes for Wednesday, 28 August 2024, because of torrential rains caused by southwest monsoon or habagat.
As of 2:20 AM, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has placed Metro Manila as well as the provinces of Bataan, Zambales, Cavite, and parts of Batangas under yellow rainfall warning. This means that flooding is possible in flood-prone areas.
According to Department of Education order #37-2022 signed by Vice President and then-Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio, classes up to senior high school are automatically suspended in areas where the red and orange rainfall warning has been raised. Local government executives, meanwhile, have the discretion to suspend classes if the yellow warning is raised in their respective constituencies.
