#WalangPasok – Class suspensions for 29 August 2024

(UPDATED, 11:55 PM)

Certain local government executives have announced the suspension of classes for Thursday, 29 August 2024, in their respective constituencies because of torrential rains caused by southwest monsoon or habagat.

As of 11:00 PM, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that Bataan, Batangas, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Quezon, Tarlac, and Zambales can expect light to moderate rains which may persist for up to three hours.

According to Department of Education order #37-2022 signed by Vice President and then-Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio, classes up to senior high school are automatically suspended in areas where the red and orange rainfall warning has been raised. Local government executives, meanwhile, have the discretion to suspend classes if the yellow warning is raised in their respective constituencies.
