National Science Club Month theme for 2024: “CLIMAQUEST: Forecasting Wind Shifts, Charting Climate Futures”

Schools around the country will be celebrating the annual National Science Club Month (NSCM) this September 2024. According to the Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs or PSYSC, the official theme for this year’s celebration is “CLIMAQUEST: Forecasting Wind Shifts, Charting Climate Futures.”

“Join us as we examine cutting-edge science, traverse dynamic shifts in our climate, and map the future of our planet. With the alarming increase in climate-vulnerable countries, understanding climate science is essential to predict weather events, develop simulations, and prepare for climate phenomena,” the PSYSC explained in a Facebook post.

The PSYSC added that the chosen theme for is NSCM 2024 “aims to encourage young minds to contribute to solutions, forecast wind shifts, and chart a resilient future for the Philippines—unlocking the potential of a sustainable tomorrow.”

The group likewise emphasized that activities related to NSCM 2024 will be done face-to-face. Common science month activities including on-site essay writing and poster making contests.

September was first declared as “Science Month” via President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s Proclamation 264, which she signed in 2002.

In the proclamation, Arroyo said that science clubbing movement and network is “a significant educational tool to encourage and inspire the youth and students to pursue careers in science and technology.”
