#WalangPasok – April 8 2024 is NOT a holiday for Eid’l Fitr
This means that April 8, Monday, is NOT a holiday – depriving Filipinos the opportunity to have a four-day weekend just two weeks after the Lenten holidays. Marcos made the announcement through Proclamation 514 which was released this April 4.
According to an announcement from the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF), the month-long annual observance of Ramadan in the Philippines officially started last March 12, Tuesday.
Ramadan is the ninth and holiest month in the Islamic calendar and it is often described as a period of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community for Muslims all over the world.
PAY RULES FOR EID’L FITR
According to pay rules set by the Department of Labor and Employment, employees covered by the holiday pay rule are entitled to receive 100% of their regular daily wage rate even if they do not report for work on regular holidays like Eid’l Fitr. This daily wage rate is the sum of a worker’s daily basic wage and cost of living allowance.
Meanwhile, those who will report for work on Eid’l Fitr are entitled to get at least twice or 200% of their daily wage rate, which is more commonly referred to as “double pay.” Click here to download the 2022_DOLE_Handbook_on_Workers_Statutory_Monetary_Benefits.
