DEPED INSET 2024: Themes and topics

Public school teachers nationwide will be having their annual in-service training or INSET from January 24 to 30, 2024. This is according to Department of Education’s (DepEd) school calendar for academic year 2023-2024 signed by Vice President and concurrent Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio.

According to the memo, the first two days of INSET 2024 will focus on “evaluating the school’s progress in implementing the educational programs, projects, and activities, as well as reviewing the performance of teachers and the school staff to address concerns through cooperative effort.”

The last three days, meanwhile, will be allotted for the conduct of INSET activities for the teachers and preparation of instructional materials. It must be stresed that this year’s INSET is school-based, which means that public school administrators have the relative power to design their respective programs.

In relation to this, Wilfredo Cabral, DepEd Officer-in-Charge, Office of the Undersecretary for Human Resource and Organizational Development, issued issued a memorandum (DM-OUHROD-2024-0037) last week that outlined its guidelines as regards the conduct of INSET.
