#WalangPasok – February 2 2024 declared holiday in Ilocos Sur
Ilocos Sur will be celebrating its founding anniversary this 2 February 2024. The event is celebrated through the annual Kannawidan Festival.
The day has been declared as a special non-working holiday in Ilocos Sur according to President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s Proclamation 431. The announcement will give those working or studying in the province a three-day weekend because the celebration falls on a Friday this year.
Pay Rules For Ilocos Sur Foundation Day – 2 February 2024
According to the 2023_edition of Department and Labor and Employment’s (DOLE)_Handbook_on_Workers_Statutory_Monetary_Benefits, the “no work, no pay” principle should be in effect during special non-working holidays.
In line with this, workers who are not required or permitted to work on February 2, 2024 in Ilocos Sur are not entitled to receive any compensation unless there is a collective bargaining agreement or a company policy that implements that.
The handbook likewise highlighted that employees who work during special non-working days must receive an additional pay of 30% for every hour that they render service.
