#WalangPasok – Class suspensions for October 31 2023
(LAST UPDATE: 30 OCTOBER 2023, 2:00 AM)
The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced the suspension of face-to-face classes in all public elementary and high schools around the country for 31 October 2023, Tuesday.
This is to give public school teachers enough time to complete their duties in connection with the conduct of the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections the day before, October 30.
DepEd Undersecretary and spokesperson Michael Poa made the announcement through an unnumbered memorandum dated 28 September 2023 Poa added that schools shall shift to blended learning modalities for this day. A copy of the document was posted by the Teachers Dignity Coalition through its Facebook page.
It must be pointed out though that 31 October 2023 is not listed as a holiday according to President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s Proclamation #42 though it is possible that other local government units as well as private schools will announce class suspensions for this day, considering that All Saints Day would be observed the next day.
