National Teachers Month theme 2023: “Together4Teachers”
The Philippines will begin its yearly celebration of the National Teachers Month (NTM) this September 5. It will run until October 5, which has been designated by the United Nations as World Teachers Day.
This month-long celebration began in 2011 as stipulated in then-President Benigno Aquino III’s Proclamation 242.
In line with this, the Department of Education (DepEd) has announced that the theme for this year’s NTM is “Together4Teachers.”
The agency elaborated: “Sama-sama nating ipagdiwang ang husay at kadakilaan ng mga Pilipinong guro na katuwang ng Kagawaran sa pagtupad ng isang bansang makabata at mga batang makabansa!” (“Let us come together to celebrate the excellence and greatness of Filipino teachers who are partners of the Department of Education in nurturing a child-friendly nation with patriotic children”).
The kick off ceremony for this year’s NTM will be hosted by Bohol Wisdom School in Tagbilaran City this September 5, Tuesday. This annual celebration of NTM aims to achieve the following objectives:
a. honor those who are in the teaching profession;
b. acknowledge and give emphasis on the crucial role, loyal service, and dedicated commitment of teachers in developing globally-minded citizens, nurturing families, strengthening communities, and building the nation;
c. revitalize the image of and respect for teaching as a vocation by increasing public awareness on the value of teachers in the Philippine society;
d. take the occasion as an opportunity in building the image of teaching as an attractive and fulfilling profession;
e. generate widespread support and assistance for teachers; and
f. express gratitude for the positive influences of teachers on Filipino learners
