#WalangPasok – Class suspensions for 26 August 2023 due to #GoringPH
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA has placed portions of northern Luzon as severe tropical storm “Goring” (international name: “Saola”) continues to move erratically around the area.
According to the 5:00 PM bulletin of PAGASA, the center of severe tropical storm “Goring” was last located at 260 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan (19.7°N, 123.9°E).
It carries maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour (KPH) near the center, gustiness of up to 135 KPH, and central pressure of 985 hPa. It is moving southeastward slowly. It has strong to storm-force winds that extend outwards up to 160 km from the center.
The Filipino Scribe will be updating this post if and when certain local government units announce class suspensions for 26 August 2023, Saturday.
REMINDER TO COLLEGE STUDENTS:
As stipulated in Commission on Higher Education’s Memorandum Order #15 series of 2012, “students who are unable to report to class or participate in scheduled activities such as exams due to inclement weather shall be given consideration and be allowed to make up for the missed class or activity.”
This must be the case especially during instances where the local government executive did not announce suspension of classes despite heavy rains in the area.
