DepEd to launch Brigada Eskwela 2023 with theme “Bayanihan Para Sa Matatag na Paaralan”
The Department of Education (DepEd) will be having its annual “Brigada Eskwela” for public elementary and secondary schools nationwide this August 2023, or shortly before school year 2023-2024 officially begins. This is also known as the National Schools Maintenance Week.
The theme for this year’s “Brigada Eskwela” is said to be “Bayanihan Para Sa Matatag na Paaralan,” though there is no official announcement yet from Vice President and concurrent Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio. It is not clear too when school year 2023-2024 will begin. The Filipino Scribe will be updating this post when new information becomes available.
Since face-to-face classes already resumed nationwide last November 2022, it is expected that this year’s “Brigada Eskwela” will focus on gathering donations that will help in ensuring that schools are compliant with minimum public health standards like electric fans, face masks, alcohol, and the like.
Started in 2003, “Brigada Eskwela” aims to strengthen the practice of shared governance, to bring the spirit of education to the community level, and to utilize local resources to public schools.
Interested parties may directly contact the schools where they want to volunteer or donate for specific details on how they can help.
