National History Month theme 2022: “History, Consciousness, Development”
The Philippines will be commemorating the annual National History Month this August. In a press release, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines or NHCP announced that the theme for this year’s celebration is “Kasaysayan, Kamalayan, Kaunlaran” (“History, Consciousness, Development”).
According to NHCP, the theme “invites the Filipino people to look at history as a means of achieving social and economic development by learning its lessons.”
Interested parties are invited to regularly check the agency’s official social media platforms for the official logo and posters as well as the line-up of activities.
August has been designated as National History Month through the late former President Benigno Aquino III’s Proclamation 339, which was signed in 2012. Prior to 2012, there was only a History Week, which ran from September 15 to 21 as stipulated in former President Ferdinand Marcos’ Proclamation 1304, signed in 1974.
