#WalangPasok – List of areas with class suspensions for January 14 2022 due to rising COVID-19 cases
(LAST UPDATE: 5PM of January 13, 2022)
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso announced the suspension of classes in all levels from January 14 to 21, 2022 due to the sharp rise in COVID-19 cases in his constituency since the year started.
“Ito po ay para mabawasan ang anxiety level nating lahat dulot ng tumataas na kaso ng COVID19,” Domagoso wrote through his official social media platforms. The presidential candidate is the first local chief executive in Metro Manila to make that move.
Domagoso’s announcement came a few hours after the Department of Education (DepEd) clarified that it is giving its regional offices and school division offices the power to declare an academic break in their respective areas. Signed by Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio, the memorandum emphasized that the suspension cannot be more than two weeks “to avoid a prolonged disruption in the current school calendar.”
The Filipino Scribe will be updating this post once other local government leaders also announce suspension of classes for their respective constituencies.
