Presidential bid looms as Sara Duterte withdraws reelection bid for Mayor of Davao City – #BotongPinoy2022
Presidential daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio has withdrawn her candidacy for reelection as Mayor of Davao City Tuesday afternoon (November 9).
She has also endorsed her younger brother, current Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte to succeed her. A lawyer named Melchor Quitain Jr. will be Baste’s running-mate as announced by their camp earlier today. This reshuffling happened with six days left to go before the Commission on Election’s deadline for the substitution of candidates by political parties.
Sara Duterte-Carpio has not yet elaborated on her next steps, but with things already settled at their home town of Davao City, it is obvious that she is now aiming for a national position.
As previously reported by The Filipino Scribe, there are multiple ways by which Sara Duterte-Carpio can still end up running as the running-mate of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. or as President herself.
It is very possible that Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa and Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go will eventually withdraw their candidacy for President and Vice President, respectively, to unify pro-administration forces under a Marcos-Duterte 2022 ticket.
