Is Willie Revillame running for senator? – #BotongPinoy2022

Popular television host and comedian Willie Revillame said that he will announce his plans for 2022 in his “Wowowin” program by Thursday (October 7) – a day before the deadline for the filing of candidacies.

Revillame has been frequently mentioned as a possible candidate for Senator under the faction of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban) led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi. Yesterday, action star Robin Padilla confirmed his own Senate bid.

In a video message played during an episode of “Wowowin” last June, President Rodrigo Duterte himself urged Revillame to run for Senator – saying that he will leave open a slot in the ticket for him.

Months before that, Revillame had dinner with Senator Bong Go and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, where the President called him to persuade him to “keep his options open.” The host has featured administration officials on his program, including Go, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles.
