Bongbong Marcos announces presidential bid – #BotongPinoy2022
Former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. has announced his presidential bid for 2022. Marcos made his declaration through a video uploaded on his Facebook page Tuesday afternoon (October 5).
The seven-minute video began with a montage of clips featuring supporters urging Marcos to run for president, as well as footages from his past campaign sorties. In his announcement, Marcos claimed that his leadership will move the country forward from the health and economic crises caused by the onngoing COVID-19 pandemic: “I know that it’s this manner of unifying leadership that can lead us through this crisis, get our people safely back to work for all of us to begin to live our lives once again.”
“That is why I am today announcing my intention to run for the presidency of the Philippines,” Marcos said in his recorded message. His father, the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, was the nation’s leader from 1965 until 1986 – when he together with his family fled the country because of the People Power Revolution.
