SK KAGAWAD PA? – Kathleen Joy Poblete is not currently enrolled with us, says Cavite State University
The Cavite State University (CSU) has spoken out about on the issue of Kathleen Joy Poblete, the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) kagawad from Dasmariñas City, Cavite who was busted by the University of the Philippines Department of Social Sciences (UPM DSS) for using fake academic credentials during a graduation speech for Ramona S. Tirona Memorial School or RTMS in held last July 15.
In a statement posted on its official social media page, CSU said that Poblete enrolled in their AB Political Science program for only three semesters: the entirety of academic year 2018-2019, and the first semester of academic year 2019-2020. The university also pointed out that during those three semesters, Poblete was neither a college scholar nor a dean’s lister – belying her claims of exemplary performance. Poblete, CSU added, has not requested for any official documents if she plans to transfer to another school.
The Filipino Scribe has previously reported that Poblete was introduced during the above-cited commencement exercises as a of summa cum laude graduate of UMP’s political science program, claiming a general weighted average of 1.015. It was even mentioned that she is at present a student of the non-existent UP Manila College of Law.
The CSU ended its press release by saying that it is willing to cooperate with any official investigations that will be done on the matter, which is consonance with the previous announcement that the UP administration is also probing the matter and that it will coordinate with all institutions involved.
Is she a Sangguniang Kabataan kagawad?
Poblete appears to be part of the Sangguniang Kabataan as a kagawad (councilor) in Barangay San Agustin-2, Dasmariñas City, Cavite. Her photos can be seen in the official Facebook page of the barangay’s youth council.
If she is indeed an elected government official, then it is important to see if she made claims of being affiliated to UP in official documents like in the personal data sheet (PDS) that she must have submitted to the Department of Interior Local Government. Poblete might be liable for charges like falsification of public documents and misrepresentation.
