UPCAT 2018 results to be released April 30, says UP regent Spocky Farolan
The much-awaited results of the University of the Philippines College Admission Test or UPCAT will be released this April 30, Monday.
That is according to Frederick Mikhail “Spocky” Farolan, a member of the UP Board of Regents. In his Facebook post, Farolan said that the information came from the director of the UP Office of Admissions, Aurora Odette Mendoza.
Apparently in response to criticisms that UP is taking too much time in announcing UPCAT results, Farolan noted that “checking 82,000 examination papers, manually inputting and obtaining the weighted average of the high school grades of the 82,000 examinees, as well as encoding the identities of the examinees can really take as much as 180 days even if their staffers work during Sundays and holidays. “That’s at least 456 papers are checked and grades averaged each day,” he pointed out.
The Filipino Scribe contacted the UP Office of Admissions to verify this information but our calls went unanswered, presumably because it’s Saturday.
