FREE AT LAST | Supreme Court dismisses plunder case against Arroyo
Voting 11-4, the Supreme Court has thrown out the plunder case filed against former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in connection to the alleged misuse of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office funds amounting to P366 million.
Speaking to ABS-CBN News, Arroyo lawyer Raul Lambino said the SC has effectively paved the way for Arroyo’s release by granting their camp’s petition for demurrer for evidence.
According to the report, those who voted against Arroyo were Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, Justice Marvic Leonen, Justice Caguioa, and Justice Antonio Carpio.
Lambino added that Arroyo is now a free woman and will be moving out of the Veterans Memorial Medical Center this afternoon, where she has been detained since December 2011.
