PAALAM, KUYA GERMS | Showbiz icon German Moreno dies at 82
Veteran television host, talent manager, and entertainment columnist German Moreno has passed away Friday midnight. He was 82.
Affectionately known as “Kuya Germs” both by his colleagues in the showbiz industry and his fans, Moreno will forever be remembered for developing the careers of countless celebrities especially through his long running show Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman and during the 1980s, That’s Entertainment.
Among his contributions for the industry is the creation of the so-called Walk of Fame in Eastwood, Quezon City which is patterned after the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the United States. Started in 2005, there are now over 300 celebrities included in it.

Moreno has been in frail health since January 2015 after suffering from stroke. That forced him to take a break from his commitments for several months.
Based on Twitter posts from his industry colleagues including director Jose Javier Reyes and fellow talent manager and writer Ogie Diaz, Moreno was rushed to a hospital in Quezon City late Thursday night. He died a few hours after going into a coma.
Postscript: So here’s how things played out the past few hours. Kuya Germs was rushed to a hospital in Quezon City late Wednesday night and eventually went into coma.
Shortly after midnight, reports about his death spread quickly via Twitter. One of the first to post it is young actor Jake Vargas, whose post was eventually shared by PEP and other netizens. The problem though is that he quickly deleted this post.
Now, GMA News published a story around 1:00 AM with an unnamed relative of Kuya Germs as source. Naturally, many took it as the final confirmation of the sad news.
But lo and behold, the network deleted the article too! And then, they totally retracted it by saying that Kuya Germs in fact is still alive albeit in a critical condition (actress Gina Alajar wrote this too on her Twitter account). By 3:20 AM, the death was confirmed once and for all.
