#WalangPasok – Class suspensions for October 20 2015 due to Typhoon ‘Lando’
UPDATED, 10:00 PM
Classes in certain provinces, cities, and municipalities will remain suspended tomorrow, October 20, to give way to the relief and rehabilitation efforts for communities devastated the two days by typhoon Lando (international name Koppu).
According to the 5PM weather bulletin issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), “Lando” is currently 45 km west southwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte (18.0°N, 120.2°E) with maximum sustained winds of 105 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph.
“Lando” is moving north northeast at 5 kph. It is projected to be 15 km northwest of Claveria, Cagayan by tomorrow afternoon. The weather bureau added that because of its slow speed, “Lando” will remain in the Philippine Area of Responsibility until Friday.
PAGASA also raised the following storm warning signals:
Signal #2 – Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Apayao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, and Cagayan including Calayan and Babuyan group of Islands
