Elha Mae Nympha wins The Voice Kids Season 2 championship
Elha Mae Nympha, an 11-year-old singer from Quezon City, has been declared the champion of The Voice Kids (TVK) Season 2 Sunday night. She received 42.16% of all text votes, beating Reynan Dal-Anay (31.64%), Esang de Torres (18.16%), and Sassa Dagdag (8.04%).
It is the first time that someone from Team Bamboo Manalac won the competition. Reynan and Esang were mentored by Lea Salonga while no one from Team Sarah Geronimo made it to the final round.
Curiously, Bamboo is the one who turned for her during the blind audition where she sang Mariah Carey’s “Vision of Love.” Throughout the competition, she sang power ballads including “Natutulog Ba Ang Diyos?” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone” (her performance in the latter earned favorable comments from Salonga).
Elha further excelled in the final round with her performance of “Narito” with veteran RnB singer Jed Madela and her rendition of “Emotions,” another Mariah Carey song.
Like TVK Season 1 champion Lyca Gairanod, Ehla’s came from a poor family, but apart from telling the jurors during the auditions that they sell banana cues, her background weren’t really highlighted throughout the season.
