2015 PBA COMMISSIONER’S CUP | Purefoods sweeps Alaska, advances to semis vs TNT
Purefoods Star Hotshots survived a late rally from the Alaska Aces, 96 to 89, to advance to the semifinal round of the 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup. The Hotshots won Game 1 of the series last Friday in a far more dominant fashion, 120-86.
Hotshots import Denzel Bowles led his team with 32 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocked shots.
The defending champions led by as much as 20 points in the opening minutes of fourth quarter and appeared to be in total control of the game only to see the Aces come to within just four points.
They will fight the Talk N’ Text Tropang Texters in a best-of-five semifinals series set to begin after the Holy Week. The two teams met in the finals of the 2014 Commissioner’s Cup. The Hotshots, then known as the San Mig Coffee Mixers, won the best-of-five series in four games.
The other semifinal match-up will feature Rain Or Shine Elastopainters opposite the winner of the quarter finals series between sister teams Meralco Bolts and NLEX Road Warriors.
The Bolts are ahead of the series 1-0 and will have the chance to finish off the Road Warriors Sunday night.
