Pope Francis calls for prayers for ‘Yolanda’ victims

Poe Francis used the microblogging site Twitter to express his solidarity to Filipinos who’ve been affected by super typhoon Yolanda (international code name Haiyan). ”I ask all of you to join me in prayer for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan / Yolanda especially those in the beloved islands of the Philippines,” the Holy Pontiff wrote Saturday night (Manila time).  The tweet has been shared 17,000 and has been “favorited” by nearly 7,000 users.

What happened in Visayas, particularly in Leyte, because of Yolanda is all over the news. As much as I fear it, I can sense that we are only seeing the tip of the proverbial iceberg.
So many areas remain inaccessible, particularly in hard-to-reach islands like Romblon (where my family came from), Mindoro, and Masbate. The government is now estimating that as much as 1,200 people may have been killed by the storm.

The Hoy Father is expected to visit the Philippines in early 2016 for the International Eucharistic Congress to be held in Cebu City,

  1. Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
